My first week with HR Heads!

My first day in the office

Monday morning – a beautifully sunny day, the first day of my new job, and also my birthday! I made my way to the smart little office, armed with birthday cake (you can’t go wrong with cake when wanting to make a good first impression) to meet the team and start the next step in my career.

Before arriving I was a little nervous but was greeted with smiling faces all round and handed a cup of tea, so the nerves didn’t last long. My first morning shot past, meeting the team and getting to grips with the role, and soon it was time for a break. It’s not even a 5 minutes’ walk from the office doorstep to the centre of Winchester, and it’s full of nice places to have lunch. By the time 5.30pm rolled around I’d had a busy, informative and thoroughly enjoyable day!

A little bit about me & why I chose HR & Procurement Heads

I have a real passion for all things marketing and have been in the profession for 3 years now, last year completing my certificate in professional marketing with the CIM. 6 years ago, I moved to Hampshire for a role with telecommunications giant Ericsson – a valuable learning curve in my career, spent understanding the global business and often travelling to trade shows around the world providing marketing support.

A few weeks ago, I came across the advertisement for Marketing and Office Manager for HR Heads and their sister brand Procurement Heads and was very keen to apply after doing my research on both companies. What struck me during my interview was just how positive everybody was – for me, there’s nothing more important than being happy at work and it was soon clear that not only is this a highly prosperous, modern and forward-thinking company but they also really invest in their employees, recognising how important this is to the overall success of the business – a rare find! I am very excited at the prospect of working for, in comparison to my global experience with Ericsson, a “small, but perfectly formed” boutique, local business with a great vision and values.

Looking forward

Having spent my first full week with the team both in the office and travelling to see clients, I can already see the personal touch added to each meeting and conversation, and every consultant has a genuine interest and investment in their network’s journey to success. Seeing how committed each member of this elite team is to providing the very best service is inspiring – this will be a huge part of what motivates me as Marketing and Office Manager to ensure I go above and beyond to support this team and raise awareness of the great work they do to recruit specialist HR and Procurement talent. My new role promises to be varied, fast paced and rewarding within a team of genuinely lovely people and I am very much looking forward to what the future holds!
