Jess Wormley from HR Heads shares her advice on how to succeed at a virtual interview.
Watch her video or read the blog below.
Now despite some companies introducing face to face interviewing, many organisations are still deciding to interview virtually.
My first tip is to find a quiet space with good lighting, preferably having the light source in front of you.
Secondly, try to do a test run ahead of the call. That way you can ensure that your microphone and camera work but can also make sure that your internet speed is strong.
This links to my next tip, which is to download the software ahead of the call. Different companies use different software, whether it’s Teams or Zoom, so by downloading the software ahead of the call, you can ensure the software works, but also make sure that the link is correct.
Next, allow yourself plenty of time like you would in a face to face interview. Give yourself time before and after the interview to account for any delays.
Finally, turn off all notifications, that way you can avoid any distractions and make sure that you can give your interview your full attention.
I hope these tips help and if you are looking for your next HR role or next HR hire please do not hesitate to get in contact with me.
