As an Employee Relations Specialist, you’ll take ownership of ER and absence management across multiple UK business units. Acting as a trusted advisor, you’ll guide managers through complex cases, ensuring consistency, compliance, and best practice at every stage. This is a hands-on role where you’ll partner with HR colleagues, senior leaders, and external legal advisors to deliver solutions that support both the business and its people.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Serve as the go-to expert for ER matters, including disciplinary, grievance, investigations, and performance issues.
- Coach and support managers to build confidence in handling ER challenges effectively.
- Collaborate with legal representatives on complex cases and tribunal claims when required.
- Drive initiatives to reduce absence levels and improve overall employee engagement.
- Review and refine ER policies and processes to keep them current and effective.
- Analyse ER data to identify trends and recommend proactive solutions.
- Work on projects and change programmes, including restructures and contractual changes.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience managing high-volume ER cases, including complex disciplinary and grievance issues.
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law and best practice.
- CIPD Level 5 (or equivalent) qualification preferred.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Highly organised, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
- Confident in using HR systems and Microsoft Office tools.
