Located in Basingstoke, the Compensation Specialist role is a 12-month FTC and offers a hybrid working arrangement with salary of £60-£65,000 plus benefits depending on experience.
  
Working within the wider corporate strategy and people function, the Compensation Specialist will work strategically in partnership with colleagues and stakeholders across the business to design, develop and deliver a compensation infrastructure that supports the delivery of the corporate plan
and people strategy.
  
Within the broad direction set by the Reward Manager the Compensation Specialist will work with business areas and as part of the reward team to translate total reward strategy objectives and operational requirement into the design and delivery of a performance driven, competitive compensation infrastructure including job family design, pay and grading structures and  incentives.
  
Key accountabilities:  

  • Partner with the business and people team to develop a range of compensation solutions that are aligned to the total reward and people strategies and support the delivery of the corporate plan.
  • Lead on the design, development and delivery of job architecture and job family frameworks that support career development and compensation structures.
  • Lead on the design, development and delivery of compensation structures including pay structures, allowances, and incentive schemes.
  • Working with the people development team to support the design of the performance management framework which links to reward outcomes and supports career development.
  • Prepare, analyse and model appropriate and often complex data to support effective decision making and recommendations.
  • Oversee the development of the desired market positioning for the organisation’s pay and total compensation by selecting, sourcing and analysing market competitive data.
  • Develop and manage project plans that clearly outline the milestones and activity required to successfully deliver and implement reward projects into the business.
  • Research, present and test compensation solutions with the business and working with the Reward Manager to develop clear and concise recommendations to present to senior leadership for approval.
  • Assist the Reward Specialist in developing and managing the benefits, recognition and wellbeing offering providing advice and guidance to managers and employees.
  • Assist in managing and developing role profiles, undertaking job evaluation and mapping roles into the job family framework.
  • Provide subject matter expertise, market intelligence, best practice and appropriate challenge and solutions to actively contribute to the overall delivery of the total reward strategy activities.
  • Create compensation policies, procedures, and guidance documents to make sure robust governance is in place to support the people team and business.
  • Establish and maintain strong and productive relationships with key internal stakeholders and customers to ensure that there is a consistently high level of engagement and two-way communication.
  • Support the reward team and wider people team to build internal capability in compensation management ensuring compensation principles and frameworks are understood.
  • Provide support and training to managers on the change and how to make the most of the compensation frameworks.
  • Manage and oversee the communication plans and content to educate, promote and deliver compensation knowledge and change to employees.
  • Ensure that compensation practices are in compliance with current laws and regulations.
  • Make sure all aspects of the compensation infrastructure is focused on equality, diversity and inclusiveness to ensure accessibility to all colleagues.
  • Holds the Data Steward role for data related to reward as set out in the organisation’s data landscape.
  • Establish and maintain own effectiveness by developing working relationships with all stakeholders, ensuring integrated contribution to corporate objectives while observing business policies, procedures, and ways of working.
  • Develop own capability through continual personal and professional development that will assist in improving own performance in the role, ensuring all core and mandatory training is completed and kept up to date.
  • Undertake other duties, within the level of responsibility, to meet the changing needs of the organisation.

Knowledge and skills:  

  • Relevant degree/subject qualifications and/or equivalent experience within Reward, demonstrating a breadth of knowledge in total reward and compensation methodologies.
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering reward and compensation projects including designing, developing, and implementing new solutions.
  • Ability to quickly build and manage key relationships with stakeholders
  • Strong project management/planning skills with the ability to prioritise workload.
  • Strong analytical and modelling skills, attention to detail and experience of working with complex data.
  • Ability to impact assess to understand the difference between ‘major’ and ‘minor’ data issues.
  • Knowledge of methods to monitor the quality of data and identify issues e.g. reconciliations.
