Do you thrive on Employee Relations casework and coaching people? We’re looking for a passionate Employee Relations expert to join our team and be part of the great culture of our client. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a dynamic and diverse business, working with stakeholders both ashore and in roles on-board our ships. You’ll be based out of our vibrant offices in the heart of Southampton and will be working on a hybrid basis, spending at least three days a week in the office with colleagues.
The Role
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Employee Relations Consultant to join our team. In this role, you’ll be coaching and assisting managers across the business to resolve queries concerning our colleagues. You will manage your own caseload and have the ability to work effectively alongside your team. You’ll have previously worked in an ER casework-oriented role and be able to hit the ground running.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert guidance on HR policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure compliance and fairness.
  • Investigate and resolve complex employee relations issues, including disputes, grievances, and disciplinary matters.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in projects, delivering training to stakeholders on ER casework to ensure legal compliance.
  • Actively appraise cases, identify learning points, and support the Senior ER Consultant and ER Manager with continuous improvement of the service delivered to the wider business.
  • Provide consistent and specialist employee relations advice on employment-related matters, including sickness absence management, disciplinary, grievance, performance management, flexible working, and collective consultation to the on-board and shore-side management.

What We’re Looking For:
Fresh ideas and different perspectives are what excite us most and help us to succeed. Alongside bringing these to the role, you’ll also need:

  • Be a creative thinker and problem solver, comfortable and effective at negotiating and influencing, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Quickly build rapport and profile within the business as a trusted ER expert.
  • Adept at risk assessing in a broad context, providing options for resolution whilst analysing and balancing both operational and legal risk.
  • Familiar with working alongside trade unions and have a good knowledge of the trade union framework and associated collective bargaining agreements.
  • CIPD Level 5 qualified or equivalent relevant experience.

Being part of our team has its advantages. We’re a holiday company, so we know there’s more to life than work. Our comprehensive range of benefits are designed to help your personal and financial health and wellbeing.
Benefits Include:

  • Home and office-based hybrid working.
  • Recognition scheme with prizes and awards.
  • Employee Discounted Cruising plus Friends and Family offers.
  • Regular office events, including live entertainment, lifestyle events, and charity partner fundraisers.
  • Extensive learning and development opportunities.
  • Employee-led networks.
  • Employee Assistance and Wellbeing programmes.
  • Company-paid Health Cash Plan and health assessment.
  • In-house Occupational Health help and access to digital GP.
  • Life Assurance.
  • Parental and adoption leave.
  • Employee Shares Plan.
  • Electric Car and Cycle to Work schemes.
  • Onsite restaurant offering a range of healthy cooked and grab-and-go meals.
  • Discounted retail and leisure via discounts portal.
  • Minimum 25 days leave, bank holiday allowance, and holiday trading scheme.
  • Contributory Defined Contribution Pension scheme.
  • A friendly welcome with help settling in.
